Seeking five new members for our Board of Directors

The Ontario HIV Treatment Network funds and conducts HIV research and provides education, capacity building, evaluation services, data collection and monitoring for HIV services in Ontario.

The OHTN is a collaborative network of people living with HIV, community-based agencies, health care providers, government policy makers, educators and researchers. We are an active, committed partner in Ontario’s HIV/AIDS Strategy.

The OHTN is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We are currently seeking five new members – three community members and two HIV researchers. Each Board member will serve a three-year term, and will assist the OHTN with funding policies, governance and strategic direction.

To be eligible, Board members must:

  • live in Ontario
  • be able to attend Board meetings six times a year, as well as committee meetings throughout the year
  • understand the OHTN’s goals and program plan, as well as HIV research and issues related to HIV prevention, treatment, policy, advocacy and/or community response.

Ideally, new Board members will have board governance experience.

The application process

To promote representation from all regions of Ontario, we encourage applications from individuals in Northern Ontario and from outside the Greater Toronto Area. We actively seek the participation of people living with HIV, as well as members of groups affected by or at risk of HIV, including (but not limited to) Indigenous Peoples, members of African, Caribbean and Black communities, women at risk and men who have sex with men.

If you would like to apply, please submit the following to [email protected] by June 20, 2016:

  • a one‐page cover letter including your name and contact information; the community (or communities) you represent or have experience with; and a description of the contribution you would make to the Board
  • a one‐page biography demonstrating your contribution to the HIV/AIDS response in Ontario (a full CV or resume may also be attached)
  • the names of two references (with contact information) who can speak to your qualifications and commitment.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to review our Impact Focused Research policy and our Board Competencies document.

After a review of all applications, short‐listed candidates will be contacted for an interview. All personal information received in this process will be kept strictly confidential and protected in accordance with privacy legislation and OHTN policies.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
