Message from the Board: Executive Director Jean Bacon announces retirement

The Board of Directors of the Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) is writing to advise that Jean Bacon, OHTN’s Executive Director, is planning to retire later this year.

Jean leaves behind an incredible legacy. She has worked in the HIV sector since 1986, including more than 15 years at the OHTN, with the last seven as Executive Director. Under her leadership, the OHTN focused on working with its partners in the HIV sector to use research and evidence to improve the lives of people with and at risk of HIV. She has helped to guide opportunities for the OHTN to invest in innovative models of testing and care (implementation science) while also continuing to fund basic and clinical research and monitoring the epidemic. Beyond this, she has also worked to bring partners together to share evidence, develop new initiatives, and support a collective impact approach to ending the HIV epidemic in Ontario.

The Board is very grateful for all that Jean has done for the organization and the HIV and research sectors. We wish her every success as she moves into a new chapter in her life.

The OHTN’s Board of Directors will start a diligent recruitment process to identify the best candidate to succeed Jean. We appreciate your encouragement, support, and trust as we search for our new leader.
