This webinar explores the evolving landscape of HIV prevention in Ontario and equips clinicians with practical strategies to deliver evidence-informed, patient-centred care.
Drawing on current epidemiologic trends, the 2025 Canadian HIV PEP & PrEP Guidelines, and real-world clinical experience, the Dr. O’Byrne will discuss HIV risk assessment, oral and long-acting injectable PrEP, individualized PrEP care planning, and Ontario-specific resources that support equitable access to prevention services.
By the end of this session, clinicians will be able to:
- Contextualize Prevention Strategies: Analyze recent Ontario epidemiologic trends to identify priority populations and regional hotspots requiring intensified HIV prevention efforts.
- Apply Clinical Evidence for Decision-Making: Assess HIV acquisition risk using a patient-centred approach that considers clinical history, epidemiologic context, and the 2025 Canadian HIV PEP & PrEP Guidelines recommendations for both oral and long-acting injectable modalities.
- Implement Individualized Care Plans: Develop comprehensive PrEP care plans that support adherence, safety, and long-term retention while integrating PrEP into holistic sexual health and preventive care.
- Navigate Access Resources: Coordinate patient referrals to appropriate Ontario-specific resources and financial programs (e.g. GetaKit, PrEPStart, or regional clinic finders) to facilitate equitable, low-barrier access.
