Pre-exposure prophylaxis is the use of certain antiretroviral medications by HIV-uninfected persons who are at high, ongoing risk of HIV acquisition, beginning before and continuing after potential HIV exposures.
PrEP is a vital tool in ending new HIV infections in Ontario, but supporting clients in using PrEP is more complex than giving them a pill to swallow. These learning opportunities share best practices and recommendations for prescribing, adherence, and follow-up.
