The OHTN is thrilled to announce that Nadine Sookermany is a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal from the Canadian Women’s Foundation. This medal is awarded to those who have impacted lives and communities across the country through their work to address multiple intersecting barriers to gender equality, including colonialism, racism, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia.
I am honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal in acknowledgment of my lifelong commitment to gender equity. This is especially important to me as I witness the myriad of ways HIV continues to impact women and gender-diverse people across Ontario. I accept this honour in memory of my mother, a justice seeker and fierce advocate of women’s access to health, who paved the way for me and so many others.
