Recommendations from the provincial Methamphetamine Think Tank

On March 212025, the Methamphetamine Working Group, supported by the OHTN, hosted a provincial Think Tank to improve the continuum of care for 2SGBTQ+ individuals living with HIV and at risk of HIV who use methamphetamine. The event brought together over 50 participants, including clinicians, researchers, public health staff, community organizations, and individuals with lived/living experience from across Ontario.

Today we’re publishing our report back, which summarizes the key recommendations from the think tank. We aim to inform efforts by the OHTN and community organizations to enhance the continuum of care related to methamphetamine use among 2SGBTQ+ communities, including prevention (encompassing both preventing initiation of methamphetamine use and/or progression to problematic use), harm reduction initiatives, and enhancing treatment options for 2SGBTQ+ individuals who use methamphetamine.

The Methamphetamine Working Group would like to thank all participants and partners, especially the community members who shared their views and experiences. This work wouldn’t be possible without your collaboration.
