Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a category of domestic abuse that affects millions of people globally. Relationships involving violence often interfere with the ability to consent to or negotiate safe sex, placing an individual at greater risk for HIV. They may also interfere with an individual’s ability to access and maintain HIV care. In some cases, the presence of HIV may also increase the risk of within the relationship.
