Position overview

The position is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing all activities and projects designed to support community-based agencies using the Ontario Community HIV/AIDS Reporting Tool (OCHART), the system funded by the AIDS and Hepatitis C Programs of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to gather and analyze data on client needs and agency activities. Reporting to the Manager of the Evidence-based Practice Unit (EBPU), the position works collaboratively with community agencies, OHTN research analysts, OHTN web designers and writers, the IT team and the AIDS and Hepatitis C Programs. The Program Coordinator creates and sustains a supportive and collaborative environment, assisting agencies in submitting their data and assisting agencies and the AIDS and Hepatitis C Programs, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in analyzing that data and using it to guide programs and services.

This high-profile and key role has wide-ranging coordination and hands-on responsibilities, including: working closely with the AIDS and Hepatitis C Programs to facilitate the bi-annual OCHART reporting process; developing reports from the data; responding to questions and queries (first point of contact); overseeing the preparation of an annual system-wide report (The View from the Front Lines); planning and organizing KTE events with OCHART submitters to discuss the data and its implications for their programs and services as well as working with the IT department to maintain the OCHART online platform; providing agencies and programs with initial and ongoing training to use OCHART; and working with other EBPU staff to review and validate the data. The Program Coordinator is expected to work with agencies in a collegial and supportive way to continually improve the quality of the data, and to enhance knowledge and understanding of Ontario’s response to HIV and its impact.

Knowledge and experience

  • Undergraduate degree in epidemiology, statistics, health information sciences, social sciences or similar field, or equivalent education/experience. A graduate degree would be an asset
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years` experience working in a research and analysis environment, including experience with extracting and processing large and complex data sets, report writing and/or synthesizing health information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to manage numerous and shifting priorities
  • Excellent communicator with proven ability to work with different clients and provide customer service effectively with external stakeholders
  • Highly detail-oriented, excellent analytic skills, logical mindset and strong numeric aptitude
  • Openness to change and experience supporting process and practice change
  • Responsiveness and flexibility
  • Experience with developing and delivering online training modules is an asset
  • HIV/AIDS experience/knowledge, including social, psychological, and clinical issues
  • Demonstrated experience working with advanced features of Excel
  • Experience with Illume Next and Tableau a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in French and English is a definite asset.
