Positive Quitting: New resource on HIV and smoking

Quitting smoking is one of the best things that people living with HIV can do to protect their health. Our new website, www.positivequitting.ca, is full of information for HIV clinics, AIDS service organizations and people living with HIV.

Did you know that:

  • people living with HIV are two to three times more likely to smoke than the general population?
  • people living with HIV lose more life years to smoking than to HIV itself?
  • smokers living with HIV are less likely to adhere to ART?

Here’s the good news! There are lots of resources available to help people living with HIV quit smoking. Our new website offers links to videos, apps, helplines, workshops and more. We also have lots of resources for HIV clinics and AIDS service organizations that want to help their staff and clients quit smoking.
