Description<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This on-demand course provides primary care clinicians with a practical, evidence-informed approach to HIV prevention in Ontario. Through clinical cases and guideline-based discussion, learners will strengthen their ability to assess HIV risk using a non-stigmatizing, patient-centred approach, prescribe and monitor pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP), and counsel patients using the principles of treatment as prevention (U=U). Legal and ethical considerations related to HIV disclosure are also addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning Objectives<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  1. Identify patients at increased risk of HIV acquisition using clinical history, epidemiologic context, and intersecting structural factors<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Initiate, prescribe, and monitor HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) using Canadian guidelines<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Assess indications for non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP) and initiate timely management<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Apply the principles of U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable) in clinical counseling and risk assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Navigate key legal considerations related to HIV disclosure in Ontario<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
