His books have been published internationally in over twenty-five languages. Mate\u0092s approach to substance use focuses on the trauma his patients have survived and looks to address this in their recovery, with special regard to indigenous populations around the world. In his book\u00a0In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction, Mat\u00e9 discusses the types of traumas experienced in the context of addiction and how this affects the decision
