What is the EBPU?

The Evidence-Based Practice Unit (EBPU) supports and promotes best practices in community-based services. Our role is to support all Ontario-based agencies and programs funded by the AIDS Bureau, the federal AIDS Community Action Program, and the Hepatitis C Secretariat. We provide assistance with data collection and data management, and with reporting and evaluation needs. We also provide general support for the development and implementation of evidence-based programs and services.

The EBPU’s goal is to build the capacity of AIDS service organizations and other funded agencies and programs so that they can:

  • Use the information they collect via OCASE and other tools to improve their services
  • Report via OCHART to show the impact of their work, and
  • Ultimately provide better services to people living with HIV or Hepatitis C in our communities.

The EPBU also supports the implementation of promising and best practices for data collection and service delivery.

How can the EBPU support my agency?

The EBPU includes a program support team able to respond to requests for support in relation to program evaluation and the development of programs and services.

The EBPU also includes a data management team that can help you with OCHART (the provincial accountability report to funders) and with OCASE (the client case management tool used by Ontario-based ASOs). We also offer a library of evaluation tools.
