The Universities Without Walls, a CIHR Strategic Training Grant in HIV/AIDS Health Research, is a national network that trains health researchers to become skilled in interdisciplinary and community-based

The purpose of the five-day Summer Learning Institute was to bring together graduate students, community members, and decision makers from across Canada for an intensive learning and mentoring event designed to:

  • explore the potential and use of interdisciplinary research in HIV/AIDS.
  • foster the development of partnerships and capacity across research, community and policy sectors.
  • foster the development and learning in a broad range of health research disciplines that have the potential to inform and influence policy, practice and programs in HIV/AIDS.

The event brought together 58 graduate students, community members, and junior public health and policy people, and 35 academic faculty and community facilitators from across Canada.
