The OCS gathers “real-time” data on a large number of voluntary participants throughout the province of Ontario. It provides unprecedented opportunities for researchers to investigate important research questions in the following are as:

Clinical issues, such as:

  • HIV-related cancers
  • Drug resistance
  • Salvage therapies
  • Adverse events
  • Metabolic problems, such as:
    • Lipodystrophy
    • cardiovascular abnormalities

Social and Behavioural issues that affect health outcomes and quality of life for people with HIV, such as:

  • Poverty
  • Stigma
  • Addiction
  • Housing
  • Mental health
  • Employment

Health Services issues, such as:

  • Access to care
  • Cost and cost-effectiveness of care

Resistance Testing issues, such as:

  • Evolution of resistance mutations
  • Clinical impact of drug resistance
  • Optimization of care and treatment in the context of drug resistance.
