Periodic Health Maintenance Checklist for the HIV Positive Patient

With the advent of successful antiretroviral therapy, people living with HIV are living longer. Although morbidity and mortality related to HIV causes have decreased, new complications related to aging with HIV have evolved. It has become increasingly important to screen for and treat conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancers, liver disease, renal disease, cognitive changes and changes in bone density. Additionally, there needs to be a renewed focus on the whole person, including not only ones physical health but psychological, economic, sexual and spiritual well-being as well. The preventative HIV checklist was created to assist both patients and clinicians to address these issues, in an attempt to improve quality of life for patients and improved care.
