Youth & Harm Reduction Workshop: RSVP by June 29

Are you a front-line worker providing services to homeless, street involved or at-risk youth who use drugs? Toronto Public Health, in collaboration with the Shout Clinic and the Safer Crack Use Coalition, welcome you to attend a free 1-day educational and skill-building workshop on “Working with Marginalized Youth who use Drugs” on July 7, 2010 in Toronto. Topics will include harm reduction, substance use, mental health and trauma, homelessness/housing, and best practice service and program models for youth who use drugs. OHTN Strategic Plan to 2015: Striving for Excellence, Achieving Impact

The OHTN is proud to announce the launch of their new strategic plan, Striving for Excellence, Achieving Impact, 2010 to 2015. The plan was developed through an open, collaborative process involving the OHTN board, staff, and key stakeholders. Public consultations inviting feedback on how to implement the plan will be held in Sudbury on July 13 and Toronto on July 14. To register for a consultation near you, RSVP to [email protected].

International AIDS Housing Roundtable: Save the Date – July 18

The International AIDS Housing Roundtable, a project of the National AIDS Housing Coalition, is pleased to present an International AIDS Housing Roundtable on July 18, 2010. An official satellite of the XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria, the Roundtable will examine the relationship between HIV/AIDS and housing instability across the globe. Canadian AIDS Society: Call for Participants - Webinar Advisory Committee, apply by June 30

The Canadian AIDS Society (CAS) is looking for 8 people to sit on a National Advisory Committee for a capacity-building initiative for service providers working in the HIV/AIDS field. Committee members will advise CAS in the development, promotion and evaluation of the Webinar Series: Practice Issues in HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment & Support project. La Société canadienne du sida (SCS) recherche des personnes désirant siéger au Comité consultatif national pour un projet de perfectionnement des compétences des fournisseurs de services qui ceuvrent dans le domaine du VIH/sida. Les membres du comité apporteront leur aide à l'élaboration, à la promotion et à l'évaluation du projet de création d'une série de séminaires en ligne intitulée « Pratiques de prévention, de traitement et de soutien dans le domaine du VIH/sida ». OHTN Job Opportunity: Clinical Data Manager, apply by July 9

The Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) is seeking a Clinical Data Manager in the OHTN Cohort Study (OCS) to manage data of the OCS Central Research Database and to ensure that the coordination, administration, integration, quality, completeness and documentation of data obtained from multiple clinical and questionnaire data sources. The OCS is a community-governed, multi-site research study that collects clinical and socio-behavioural information voluntarily from people with HIV across Ontario. New Public Health Reports on the Social Determinants of Health

Public Health Reports (PHR) - the official journal of the U.S. Public Health Service and published by the Association of Schools of Public Health – introduces a new special supplement focused on the social determinants of health. This new PHR supplement, published in 2010, Supplement 4, Volume 125, presents innovations, advances, and insights regarding the role of social determinants in the spread of HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections and tuberculosis.
