AIDS Committee of Toronto: The Red Ribbon Affair & Carnaval Noir, July 21/29

The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) is pleased to invite you to attend their upcoming fundraising soirees, which include "The Red Ribbon Affair" for an evening of fun, fashion, and entertainment on July 21, 2010, and “Carnaval Noir” for a night of dancing and burlesque entertainment on July 29, 2010. ACT provides a wide range of free, confidential programs and services for people with HIV/AIDS, and offer support to their friends, partners, family and caregivers, and to those at risk for HIV infection. Dalla Lana School of Public Health: Conference Proposals due August 6

University of Toronto Masters of Public Health students invite you to submit a proposal to organize a workshop or presentation at the 3rd Annual Dalla Lana School of Public Health Student-Led Conference on "The Art of Public Health" to be held October 1, 2010. The Planning Committee is seeking submissions from students, community organizations, practitioners, researchers and artists interested in sharing their research, experience or expertise in arts-based public health approaches. Center for Research on Inner City Health: Knowledge Translation Workshop, September 29-30

The ACHIEVE Research Partnership (“Action for Health Equity Interventions”) will present a Workshop on “Social Change, Health Equity Research, and Knowledge Translation” on September 29 and 30, 2010, designed for graduate students and Post-Doctoral fellows working in the area of health equity and social determinants of health. Service providers, planners, and community-based organizations are welcome to join. The workshop will introduce policy-making processes that affect the health of inner city populations and discuss roles for research and knowledge translation in relation to these processes. Request for Proposals: Needs Assessment of Support Services for HIV+ Women, apply by July 16

Epidemiological research shows that HIV/AIDS among women in Ontario, particularly in Toronto, has increased in the last several years. The AIDS Bureau of the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care has designated funding for AIDS Service Organizations to enhance support services for HIV+ women living in Toronto. To inform the funding allocation process, the Ontario HIV Treatment Network is inviting experienced consultants to submit a proposal to assess the support service needs and identify service gaps for HIV+ women living within Toronto. Women’s College Research Institute: Research Coordinator, due July 16

Women’s College Research Institute is seeking a research coordinator for a study on “Help seeking experiences of heterosexual men living with HIV”. This innovative study aims to examine the gaps in services as identified by heterosexual men living with HIV, and the barriers faced by heterosexual men when accessing services. The deadline for applications is July 16, 2010. OHTN Short-Term Job Opportunity: OCS Project Coordinator, due July 23

The OHTN is seeking a highly qualified applicant for the position of Project Coordinator for the OHTN Cohort Study (OCS). The OHTN Cohort Study is a community-governed, multi-site research study that collects clinical and socio-behavioural information voluntarily from people with HIV across Ontario. Committee for Accessible AIDS Treatment: Project Coordinator, due July 26

The Committee for Accessible AIDS Treatment (CAAT) is seeking a Project Coordinator to coordinate and implement the Peer Programs and Newcomers with HIV/AIDS Sexual Health Promotion Project. The project aim is to facilitate access to capacity building activities for people with HIV and to reduce community vulnerability to HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and criminalization through services and disclosure skill-building initiatives. York University: Harm Reduction Programs/Practice Course, starts August 23

York University is pleased to offer a Certificate Program in Harm Reduction which consists of three core courses designed to introduce service providers, administrators and policy makers to a critical examination of the principles, concepts and practices of harm reduction, and the strategies to mobilize support for and develop harm reduction programs in communities, families and institutions. The ¡Cuéntame! Conta-me! Research Team has just launched an important survey to take a first look at gay and bisexual Spanish and Portuguese speaking men in Canada, and to develop an understanding of their experiences with migration, sexuality, and social services in Canadian society. If you are a Spanish or Portuguese-speaking male, or come from Hispanic or Portuguese-speaking origins, and have had sex with a male in the last year, this survey is for you.
