Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care – Career Scientist Award Information Session, January 7

The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will hold an information session by teleconference for the 2010 Open Provincial Competition for Career Scientist Awards on January 7, 2010. The Career Scientist Award program provides five years of salary support health services researchers in Ontario.

City of Toronto Public Health – Community Educator Workshop Starts January 12

Toronto Public Health is offering a free workshop co-facilitated by its Sexual Health Promotion staff and community members. The 3-day workshop will provide new HIV/AIDS community workers and educators in Toronto with: 1) basic HIV/AIDS information, 2) group and counseling strategies on delivering HIV/AIDS education, and 3) practical tips on putting education theory into practice.

CIHR Primary Healthcare Summit – Registration Closes January 17

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) will hold a Primary Healthcare Summit on Patient-Oriented Primary Care – Scaling Up Innovation on January 18-19, 2010, in Toronto. The Summit program will include presentations on the problems and promises of primary health care, implementing and evaluating chronic disease management models, and the effective use of health information data to improve practice, system and patient outcomes.

University of Toronto and Wellesley Institute – Special Event on Health, Housing and Human Rights, January 21-22

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health, the Munk Centre for International Studies and the Wellesley Institute are hosting series of events on “Health, Housing and Human Rights: Exploring the Connections in Canada and Globally”. Special presentations include a public address by Miloon Kothar, the former United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing.
