FUNDING RESEARCH WITH REAL-LIFE IMPACT

Due January 6th, 2012 


On September 30, 2011, the OHTN Board of Directors ratified a new research funding policy entitled  Funding Research with Real-Life Impact. The new policy is a key component of our commitment to improve the health and well-being of people living with and at risk of HIV in Ontario. It will be a critical tool in helping the OHTN achieve our mission and the goals of our  Strategic Plan to 2015: Striving for Excellence, Achieving Impact.

COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH CAPACITY BUILDING FUND

Due January 16th at 12pm  


The Community-Based Research Capacity Building fund provides a mechanism for Community-Based AIDS Service Organizations to request support for research-related activities that will enhance their capacity to conduct CBR.

3RD ANNUAL CIHR CBR MASTER'S AWARD GRANT WRITING WORKSHOP: REGISTRATION OPEN

February 10, 2012

 

The OHTN is pleased to offer its 3rd Annual Workshop for Masters students intending to apply for the CIHR CBR Masters Award, due in April 2012. This workshop will provide hands on support with the technical aspects of applying to CIHR (ResearchNet and CommonCV), and with Dr. Robb Travers, will support students in the development of their applications (Research Proposal Summary, CBR Principles Summary, and Training Expectations).

Dr. Michael Orsini has video recorded his lecture titled "Every Virus Tells a Story': Exploring Narrative Approaches to Health Policy in an Evidence-based World". Watch it at a time of our choosing, read the suggested articles, and join Dr. Orsini's online graduate seminar conversation on Monday, December 19th, 2011 at 2 pm EST.

 

Dr. Orsini is an Associate Professor in the School of Political Studies and Principal Scientist with the Institute of Population Health at the University of Ottawa.

The Canadian Harm Reduction Network (CHRN) urges you to read the below letter and to become involved with the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition in working toward the development of a sensible and humane way to regulate and control of psychotropic substances in Canada, as an alternative to the failed War on Drugs.  The CHRN is a partner of the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition and has partnered in its establishment and development.

THE ONTARIO PUBLIC HEALTH CONVENTION (TOPHC 2012)

April 2-4, 2012

  

The Ontario Public Health Convention (TOPHC) is pleased to announce that the 2012 preliminary program is now available online. This program contains the plenary speakers and the titles and abstracts of the concurrent sessions.  The final program will be produced in March.

From April 2 to April 4, TOPHC 2012 will focus on the overall convention theme, "Staying Ahead of the Curve," and specific daily themes:

Day 1 - projecting the potential future directions of public health in the next five years

Day 2 - exploring the dimensions of quality and performance in public health practice

Day 3 - investigating the impact of new and different practices in public health and exploring innovations in interdisciplinary and intersectoral relationships in public health.
