The OHTN is a network of community members, researchers, health care providers and policy makers. Members of our network advise us how to: invest strategically in research, actively engage community in research, and support health care providers caring for people with HIV.

According to an independent survey of our members, the OHTN is having an impact ... particularly on:

Community Based Research with respect to initiatives related to the social determinants of health
The promotion of knowledge transfer and exchange, partnership building and networking
General funding for research initiatives, and in particular the Investigator-Driven Research Program (IDRP) and the Ontario Cohort Study (OCS)

We are also making a difference by:

  • Providing support to AIDS Service Organizations and medical institutions
  • Improving the quality of life for people with HIV
  • Turning the organization in a new strategic direction

When HIV reporting began in 1985, MSM accounted for 80% of cases. In 2009, the proportion had diminished significantly with 41.8% of all HIV+1 being MSM.
